Art trip to Kagawa Prefecture 2

(This is the continuation article of the previous article.)
On the second day of our Kagawa trip, we cross the sea by ferry to Naoshima Island.

Among art fan, Naoshima Island is so famous as which has a lot of art spots.
After arrival, we went to one of Naosima Island's symbols, Yayoi Kusama's yellow pumpkin with rented e-bike. The road was far and dark, but we could see the beautiful starry sky.
We had a nice dinner at "New Olympia" and drunk "Naoshima original beer" at a bar "Saru." "New Olympia" has an English menu. Both of them are highly recommended.

On the next day, at first, we went to Chichu Art Museum. This is representative place in Naoshima Island, which designed by famous architect Tadao Ando and so many visitors visit here every year. The entrance fee is costly about 2060 yen, but it's worth it. Chichu Art Museum has only three artist's creations, namely: Claude Monet, James Turrell, Walter De Maria. All of the rooms are customized for artworks. For example, Monet's room doesn't have artificial lights. We can only see a natural light. Room's corners are round, and small white tiles are paved on the floor. It's a very beautiful space. While James Turrell and Walter De Maria's artworks focus more on a spacious place with art structures. And, they also offer extraordinary experiences. The design of the museum is also stunning, we saw the sky cut into square or triangle shapes from the museum. There are no electric wire, no buildings, only sky, and clouds. I felt my heart calm and the experience in Chichu Art Museum was splendid.

After that, we went to Honmura area. There are a lot of renovated old houses which has artworks. We had enjoyed there, too.
It's good to use rented e-bike, that's why we could go around the island efficiently. I recommend it.

This trip is very short, yet fulfilling. Especially,  Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art and Chichu Art Museum are unforgettable. I would recommend it.
