Glass Craft Artist Erik Höglund

Today, I will introduce one of my most favorite artists, Erik Höglund. He is a Swedish glass craft artist. Born on 1932 and died on 1998.
First of all, I'd like to present his masterpiece picture. This is Höglund's Ash tray, one of my collections. Years ago, people must have seen this primitive shape in South American traditional art or in ancient art piece.
So his piece's largest features is a primitive figure. And it was made of glass. This gives me a wonderful impression.
And his piece has a lot of air bubble. And I think it can provide a good nuance to the piece.

This is not a sharp figure and once considered to be a ware taboo in the glass world. But he dare to made it. So this is the reason why he has been called "revolutionary of glass".
You can see his other masterpiece in this link.
You may think that you want to see a realistic one. But which museum or gallery should I go?
No. You can see, touch and even buy them if you wish. I recommend you to go to the Elephant shop in Omotesando Tokyo. This shop sells vintage table ware from Scandinavian countries. Erik Höglund's pieces are also displayed in this shop. In some countries, there are a lot of Höglund's pieces that are fake. But in the Elephant shop, you can guarantee that these pieces are authentic.

I heard that in Lasse Hallström's movie "My Life as a Dog", the artist in glass factory was based on Erik Höglund life.

One of my dreams is to go to Sweden and to see public art by Höglund.
